Scotland: Steve Clarke has announced his withdrawal from the World Cup.

Steve Clarke has stepped down as Scotland head coach after their World Cup exit was confirmed.

The Scottish FA’s statement came after Croatia confirmed Scotland’s fate in their win over Ghana.

“The most emotional part of this farewell is my players, without whom we wouldn’t have the memories we’ve gathered from 2019 to now,” Clarke said in a letter to fans.

“They deserve the credit and admiration of all who receive it and it was truly an honor to be called a gaffer.

“Thanks for having me and good luck to my successor.”
