Wales and Barbarians players and coaches lined up to pay their respects to North after the game
Wales head coach Steve Tandy: “It’s always great for great players to finish on a high, but it’s great that he didn’t finish too high! (Helps the Barbarians win)”
“He is an amazing ambassador and rugby player for our country.
“I wish him all the best for his future, because he has done so many amazing things in a Welsh shirt.
“It was great for me to see George. As a nation we are proud to have some legendary players and he is certainly one of them.”
Wales captain Dewey Lake: “He’s been incredible throughout my career for Wales and for the Lions and personally.
“I don’t think there’s a better way for him to finish, to come off the bench, to score two tries.
“I wish him all the best because he has done so much for this country in this jersey.”
Barbarians coach Scott Robertson: “He was really pleased and had a few words with the boys afterwards. The first thing was he was really happy to be playing.
“It was difficult for him personally and he noted that this opportunity meant a lot and he made the most of it.
“It’s a wonderful way to finish against your own country. The first touch showed how classy he was and we will remember him as a man who was all class, a rugby great and a gentleman.”
Barbarians captain and double World Cup winning scrum-half Faf de Klerk: “I call him ‘Sir’ George even though I’m a bit older than him.
“He’s been fantastic. When it comes to work, you can see he’s turned it on and that’s why he’s got over 100 caps.
“He’s been fantastic for us this week and the work he’s done in the game has been amazing.
“I want to wish him well for what’s to come.”
