The Spanish coach made a veiled criticism of the roughness of the “Celeste” players
The coach of the Spanish national team, Luis de la Fuente, commented on the tension and controversy that took place in the Spain-Uruguay match of the last round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup on Friday evening.
De la Fuente said during a press release “hope” Spanish. “We knew that the match would be very difficult. This is not a game we feel comfortable playing. But that’s why the referee is there.”

Spain defeated Uruguay (1-0) and qualified for the round of 32 with a perfect score (9 points) to determine the runner-up in the tenth group, which will be Austria or Algeria.
Uruguay, on the other hand, exited the tournament in third place in Group H with two points behind runners-up Cape Verde (3 points), while Saudi Arabia finished bottom of the table with two points behind Celeste on goal difference.
