The Argentine coach is close to returning to the Arabian Gulf region
Argentina’s Hernan Crespo, the former coach of Emirates’ Al Ain and Qatar’s Al Duhail, is close to returning to the Arab region after attracting interest from Saudi and Qatari clubs to sign him ahead of the start of the new season.
Crespo is preparing for his next move, assessing offers and available options before deciding on a return following his recent experience with Sao Paulo in Brazil.
A source close to Crespo has told Kooora that the Argentinian coach is the first choice for the management of Qatari Al-Sadd to replace the departure of Italian Roberto Mancini.
The source adds that Crespo is also receiving interest from Saudi clubs, without revealing the identity of the clubs.
However, the closest are Al-Ittihad and Al-Nasr, who are looking for new coaches to replace Sergio Conceicao and Jorge Jesus.
According to the same source, Al Nasr star and Almeria owner Cristiano Ronaldo advised Crespo to be appointed coach of the Spanish team, but the club’s management ultimately decided to sign a contract with another coach, who is also among the officials’ candidates.
The 50-year-old Argentinian coach led Al Duhail to a league, cup and league cup treble in the 2022-2023 season before leading Al Ain to the AFC Champions League title the following season.
It is noteworthy that Crespo’s name has recently been associated with coaching a number of European clubs, among which “Rayo Vallecano”, “Marseille”, “Lazio” and “Parma” stand out.
