Muhammad Abu Al-Shamat, the full-back of the Saudi Arabian national team, admitted the failure of “Al-Akhdar” in the current World Cup after the bye in the group stage of the tournament.
The Saudi Arabian team was eliminated from the World Cup in the group stageAfter a goalless draw with Cape Verde at dawn on Saturday in the third and final round at NRG Stadium in the American city of Houston.
Abu Al-Shamat told the Saudi journalist Abdullah Al-Hanyan through his personal account of the “X” website. “We failed to win the qualification in this tournament. We blame ourselves and first of all we apologize to our fans.”
He added: “We will work to develop ourselves. We suffer from some things that we lack as Saudi players and we have to develop ourselves, especially since this generation is participating in the World Cup for the first time.”
“I appreciate the sadness of the people of Saudi Arabia, but I tell them that this generation is participating in the World Cup for the first time. Don’t be rude to them. Your rights are above our heads, from the youngest to the oldest, and we will work to learn from our mistakes.”
He continued. “We will try to compensate you. I know you are tired of promises, but this is football. Success cannot come all at once, but must be developed step by step until it reaches the desired success.”
