A hard kick stuns Donis
The Saudi Arabian national team suffered another painful blow during the confrontation with Cape Verde, early Saturday, in the third and final round of the group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, after defender Hassan Timbukti was forced to leave the field due to an injury.
There were doubts over Timbukti’s fitness for the match after he had been suffering from muscle soreness in recent days, which forced him to miss one of the training sessions until the team’s medical staff confirmed his recovery and fitness to play the game.

But the fears came true in the 32nd minute of the match, when Timbukti collapsed on the field due to an injury. The medical team rushed to treat him, but the player could not finish the match.
The Saudi defender left the field on a stretcher in a scene that alarmed the coaching staff and the Saudi fans, so coach Georgios Donis made an emergency substitution, bringing on Ali Lagami to compensate for Timbukti’s absence.
