United States President Donald Trump has threatened to impose a 100 percent tariff on any country that uses a digital tax on US technology companies, adding that the new tariffs will go beyond any previous agreements.

The threat is the latest in a string of Trump actions to argue fiercely efforts to monitor the country’s tech giants abroad.

“Many European countries have been discussing the implementation of a Digital Services Tax on American Companies. Some of these countries are close to doing so,” Trump wrote.

“Please allow this statement to show that any country that imposes such a tariff will receive a 100 percent TARIFF on any Goods imported into the United States of America.”

The Republican leader has previously warned countries not to impose taxes or regulations on US technology companies.
