Tunisia leaves the bottom of the World Cup… and the Arab team takes its place.

Unfortunately, a disappointing fight

Tunisia has officially guaranteed that it will not take the 48th (last) place overall at the 2026 World Cup after Iraq’s defeat (0-5) by Senegal at the end of the group stage, ahead of Tunisia on goal difference in the battle for the last places.

According to the official results, Tunisia and Iraq were tied for goals scored (12 goals each), but Tunisia scored two goals to Iraq’s one, securing forty-seventh place and leaving Iraq in last place.

Iraq’s trip to the tournament has been rocky from the start as they lost to Norway (1-4) and then France by three clean sheets before suffering a heavy five-point loss to Senegal, settling for one goal against 12 in three games.

As for the Tunisian national team, they started their campaign with a heavy defeat against Sweden (1-5), a match that led to the sacking of coach Sabri Lamouchi and France’s Herve Renard to lead the team in the next two matches.

However, the technical change did not change the result much, as the “Carthage Eagles” lost 0-4 to Japan, then 1-3 to the Netherlands, leaving the tournament with two goals and 12 goals later.
