The left-hander eventually scored an unbeaten 116 off 56 balls, hitting 19 boundaries during his innings, as Somerset finished on 194-7.
The dismissal of captain Jack Taylor meant Gloucestershire were 97-4 at the end of the 11th over but a fifth-wicket partnership of 55 between Liam Scott and Kamran Dhariwal gave them hope.
However, Daniel Sams broke that partnership in the 18th over and Australian pacer Riley Meredith took two wickets in the next over to put the game out of Gloucestershire’s reach.
Warwickshire Opener Zain Malik fell short of a maiden T20 century as his side continued their recovery in the Blast with a win over their neighbours. Worcestershire 59 at Edgbaston.
The Bears, who started the tournament with five straight defeats – including a six-wicket loss at New Road – were eyeing a huge score as Malik and in-form Beau Webster put on a 177-run partnership.
Malik took just 19 balls to reach 50 but, one short of his ton after being caught at cover and Webster (44 off 79) being run out by Ben Allison’s pinpoint throw, the home side were all out for 224.
However, this proved to be enough, with Worcestershire losing wickets at regular intervals and despite Adam Hose’s 35 off 49, they could only muster 165–7 in reply.
