The Bose QuietComfort The Ultra (2nd Gen) are my favorite headphones. They’re the rare jack-of-all-trades: They’re great for all-day wear, they make great workout headphones, they’re great for serious work like video editing, and they’re deep enough that I only need to get lost in a few sessions of Love Island. They’re also on sale this Amazon Prime Day, making them an easy proposition if you’re thinking about upgrading.
Hear me out, though. The original QuietComfort Ultra is also discounted and very affordable. About to price of $269it’s more important depending on what you like best (more on that below). QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen)
The Bose QuietComfort Ultra (2nd Gen) it retains the beautiful appearance it created the first generation WIRED’s favorite: comfortable wear you can wear for hours, clear sound, and a natural-sounding display. Plus, its noise cancellation is one of the best we’ve experienced. You can lay the headphones down to put them to sleep, and they wake up when you turn them back on. As someone who always forgets to turn off my headphones, I’m more appreciative than I should be.
That said, while the Ultra (2nd Gen) is on sale $379 ($70 off)I would direct most people to OG, which is very low $269 ($160 off). You’ll miss out on a number of upgrades, such as lossless audio over USB-C, longer battery life, and the new Cinema mode that supports dialogue in movies and TV shows. But if your primary is good sound quality and superior noise cancellation, the primary provides the same for less. That’s money I’ll be adding to my cart.
