Algerian football legend Rabah Majer has defended the Tunisian national team despite their negative results at the 2026 World Cup, stressing that it is no different from the teams of Egypt, Morocco and Algeria.
The Tunisian national team bid farewell to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the group stage, finishing last in their group without points, suffering 3 heavy defeats against Sweden (5-1), Japan (4-0) and Holland (3-1).
Madger said during MBC 1’s Nadina program. “I still believe that the Tunisian team is a good team, with a lot of potential, like Algeria, Morocco and Egypt.”
He added: “But he is suffering from a crisis. The crisis started not at the World Cup, but after the 1-5 friendly defeat by Belgium, a defeat that raised questions about the Tunisian national team.”
“The Tunisian team lost to the Netherlands, and although it is a respectable team, the Tunisian team was able to compete with them, as evidenced by the Algerian team, which beat them in a friendly in Rotterdam with a clean sheet.”
He concluded. “The Dutch team is not a team to be afraid of in the game, but the Tunisian team made a lot of mistakes on the pitch.”
It is noteworthy that the Dutch team will be Morocco’s next opponent at the 2026 World Cup, as they will meet them next Tuesday at dawn in the Round of 32.
