Promoter Eddie Hearn insists he has “never been more confident” Anthony Joshua will emerge victorious from his British heavyweight battle with Tyson Fury.
Joshua and Fury are expected to finally share the ring this year. Although a location and date for the blockbuster fight is yet to be finalised.
Two-time world champion Joshua has been training with former opponent Oleksandr Usyk ahead of his return against Christian Prenga on July 25 and Hearn believes his fighter will be ready to topple Fury.
“Fury is a fantastic fighter, very smart. I’ve always felt that AJ Tyson beats Fury,” Hearn said. Sky Sports.
“And now, with Usyk having his training camp and the way he seems and how focused he is, I just think I’ve never been more confident that he’s going to win the fight.
“But it won’t be easy because Fury is a great competitor and a great fighter.”
Fury has indicated that he will have a warm-up fight before facing Joshua, but has yet to announce an opponent or date.
Haran has already admitted If either fighter loses early, Fury vs. Joshua’s plan will fall apart.
“Unfortunately, Tyson Fury is used to making a lot of money and perhaps the purse that has been offered is not one that he is very happy with,” said Hearn.
“But really, nobody really wants to fight for that. You know what I mean? So you have to decide what the money is.
“Do you want to do it or do you not want to do it right now? He wants to be in training camp. He wants to be active. And I understand all that, but it’s not really our business.
“They’re going to do whatever they want to do. And we’re just going to focus on July 25.”
