Who wins second place in the championship? Pundits, fans and directors have their say

Daniel, of Ipswich: Surely we’ve got it in the bag. QPR might be the most ‘beachy’ team out there, I can’t see us not winning. Millwall and Boro have been outstanding this season, probably performed better than us, but unfortunately we seem to have done just that.

Andrew, Millwall fan: No hope of QPR doing us a favor at Ipswich. QPR were on the beach when they played us and I’d expect something similar on Saturday.

Paul, Middlesbrough fan: We blew up a while ago. Home games against weaker teams where we drop points. Oxford and Pompeii spring to mind. These victories used to excite us.

James, of Ipswich: I just have this nagging feeling that Ipswich will lose against QPR while Boro and Millwall both win, thus putting Town in the play-offs where they will fall short. Hope to be proven wrong but Ipswich has a unique way of putting us through!

Fuzzy, Millwall fan: I hope Millwall finally get some last game luck – a win for the Lions and a draw for Ipswich. Having missed out on playoff places in recent years, we really need some luck.

If we don’t, we will see the home game against Blackburn as a great injustice. A very clever red card, which was overturned, a strange decision by the referee and three lost points. A good season can still be an amazing season.

Andy, Middlesbrough fan: I have to say if you asked me eight months ago ‘will Boro be in the play-offs?’ I would stop your hand! In retrospect, I’d say now that we blew second place, but there’s a slim chance we can do it on Saturday.

I’m proud to support Boro, I think we’re the best team in the mix, that spell without a win in seven has killed us. I think Ipswich deserve second on their recent form… but who knows.

Ian, Ipswich fan: If we play with determination against QPR, as we showed against Saints, we will be too strong for them. But if we fail, we won’t have the resistance to win the playoffs. Millwall will beat relegated Oxford and I like Wrexham to beat Boro.

Regardless, the Saints look strong, the form team and will win the playoffs as they did two years ago.
