He was born and raised in Manchester, but moved to Israel

Richard Manville has lived in the UK all his life – but is now leaving Salford for Israel because he says anti-Semitism in Britain is intolerable.

A self-proclaimed proud secular Jew, he told the BBC’s Judith Moritz that it was a traumatic experience because he never thought he would leave his home.

But Richard’s mind was made up, reinforced by the hundreds of abusive messages he received online after he publicly announced his decision to leave.

Most British Jews say they have no intention of going anywhere, but Richard is not alone. According to a recent survey, one in five is planning to move to Israel in the next five years.
