Hakimi led the Atlas Lions remontada
Paris Saint-Germain star Achraf Hakimi shone in Morocco’s thrilling 4-2 win over Haiti at the end of the 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage, where he scored a goal and provided an assist.
Hakimi opened the scoring for the Atlas Lions when he equalized for his side (1-1) before coming back and providing an assist for Ismail Sibari’s goal (2-2) to win the man of the match award.

Hakimi became the second player in Morocco’s history to score and assist in the same World Cup game, after Abdeljalil Hadda “Camacho”, who achieved the feat against Scotland at the 1998 World Cup.

The former Borussia Dortmund star also extended his lead for the most appearances for the Atlas Lions in World Cup history with 13, overtaking Hakim Ziyech and Azedin Ounahi (10 each).
With this victory, the “Atlas Lions” finished the group stage in second place in Group C, behind the leader Brazil on goal difference, with 7 points each.
The Moroccan national team has scheduled a day in the round of 32 with the leaders of Group F, which includes the Netherlands, Japan, Sweden and Tunisia, while Brazil, who beat Scotland (3-0) today, will face the runner-up of the same group.
The Netherlands enter the finals at the top of their group, making them the most likely candidates to meet Morocco in the next round if they retain top spot, while Japan are second on goal difference (4 points each).
