Apple and Audi Alumni Create Luxe EV Based on Moon Buggy

It seems that be a week of low-cost EVs. As soon as he finished making a model of Slate electric car revealed, full of collisions, the new entrant of the European electric motor is coming out today and it wants to bring its cheap but beautiful transport to the market.

The founders of Amble were working Audi and Fordhe started Cowboy ebikes, and cofound Forpeople, a creative agency that works, among others, It’s EVs, Arc’teryxand Herman Miller. Indeed, Amble’s director, Julian Hoenig, did a failed job Apple carwhich goes some way to explaining how this, the $25,000 Amble One, looks like it could have been driven from Cupertino, even though it’s from Lisbon, Portugal.

The Amble One is a street-legal, open-top electric buggy designed for places where a normal car feels out of place. Coastal paths, secluded spots, and dirt roads between the luxury hotels and the ocean. Think of it as if Apple decided it was going to make a golf cart, then went ahead with the project.

The company calls the One a new category of lightweight electric car, and the specifications show depth: a range of 60 miles, a top speed that reaches 40 mph, a five-hour drive from any household socket, and a weight under 450 kilograms (992 pounds).

This last number is more important than it sounds. To qualify as a L7e car in Europe (a group that allows driving on public roads without being treated as a car), Amble One must be under 450 kilograms. “This is a challenge,” says Adrien Roose, CEO and cofounder. “If you take a car and slow it down, it won’t work.” The Amble One’s open, doorless design isn’t the only aesthetic choice its competitors have Electric Mokeit seems. It’s part of what makes a rich goal come true.

The founding team has its parents. Roose started Cowboy, one of the most popular brands electric bike color. Hoenig spent many years at Audi, working on the RSQ, A4, R8, and Q3, before joining Apple’s design team, where he worked as an engineer. Apple Watch, Vision Proand Apple’s Project Titan car software. Michael Tropper founded Forpeople, a 120-person design agency whose clients include InterContinental Hotels. Keeping the theme of tourism, José António Uva, who is the chairman of Amble, restored.
