Video: they flew into the air… Mexican fans’ celebrations turned into a tragedy


The circumstances of the case are not yet fully clear

Local time yesterday, Wednesday, the celebrations of Mexican fans’ 3-0 victory over the Czech Republic turned into tragic scenes after a car plowed into a crowd of fans in the popular tourist town of Cabo San Lucas, injuring several people.

The municipality of Los Cabos announced in an official statement that 17 people received medical help after the accident, including the driver, who was stopped and arrested by the authorities.

Videos shared on social media showed the black car surrounded by a crowd of fans wearing Mexico national team shirts before it suddenly drove towards them at high speed, throwing a number of people into the air before crashing into barriers at the scene.

Other footage also shows several people pulling a man from inside a car and assaulting him, while a number of injured people appear to be lying on the ground in pools of blood, with their health conditions unclear.

Cabo San Lucas is located on Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula and is considered one of the country’s most popular luxury travel destinations.

It also forms, along with San Jose del Cabo, the two main cities of the municipality of Los Cabos, which also includes the tourist area that stretches between them.
