Apple raises prices on Macs, iPads, and more by hundreds of dollars

Apple is raising the prices of MacBooks, iPads, and other devices by hundreds of dollars because of the ongoing memory shortage. While the new MacBook Neo will now start at $699 instead of $599, the M3 Ultra Mac Studio is getting an increase of $1,300 to $5,299, up from $3,999, as previously reported by Bloomberg and MacRumors.

Here’s a list of extras that affect the starting prices of other Apple devices:

Apple CEO Tim Cook he pointed out the upcoming price changes during the interview with The Wall Street Journal published on June 17th, saying that Apple has tried to “protect” customers from price increases, but “things have become unstable.”

In the months ahead of the price hike, Apple has begun making changes to some of its Mac lineup. They they stopped selling Mac Studio with 512GB of RAM in March, and later dropped the $599 Mac Mini optionmeaning the device now starts at $799 with 512GB of RAM.

The cost of memory and storage has risen in the past few months as AI companies buy RAM and SSDs for the data centers that run their models. Memory suppliers, including Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron, they are struggling to achieve what they want for regions important in everything from desktop computers, phones, laptops, consoles, and even cars.
