Vaibhav Suryavanshi: ‘Research’ key to slow India’s pace in Belfast

Ross Adair will also make his debut. Although he has represented Ireland at home and abroad in the Twenty20 format, this will be the first time he will do so at Stormont.

The 32-year-old is expected to lead Ireland’s attack, and although his age profile differs from Suryavanshi’s, he admits the Indian teenager “would like to be one of those guys”.

“He has no fear, he doesn’t care who he’s batting against – he just wants to get everyone going, and India has given him the license to do that,” he said.

“It’s a big occasion for them and for us, so it’s great to be a part of it.”

One man who will not feature in this weekend’s internationals is Adair’s younger brother Mark, who is on the injury list.

His absence is a blow to Irish hopes and elder brother Ross admitted “he will be a big loss for us”.

He said, we know how important he is with the ball and the bat.

“Playing with a full house on such a big occasion against these guys, he could have stepped up to the mark.

“He’ll be here but whether he likes being here with the show and what he’s missing, he might not enjoy it as much.”
