Two East Midlands Railway trains – the Corby to London St Pancras Luton Express and the Nottingham to St Pancras service – It crashed at around 17:15 BST. The line will remain closed this week.
A man took to social media to post a notice of the fine on a mirror in the station’s car park, adding to the council: “Really? Why are you giving parking tickets to cars at Bedford train station after yesterday’s serious incident?
“The police were telling people not to go to the station! How are we going to collect our cars? Or should we extend the parking lot?”
He said the fined cars were in a car park next to the station on Ashburnham Road and were run by the council, not a private organisation.
The paid parking expired at midnight after the accident on Friday and was ticketed at 09:00 on Saturday.
The man was earlier removed from the train on the Bedford line behind the crash site.
He filmed his neighbors and partner throwing water bottles and snacks on the road next to the railway tracks, saying it was “humanity at its best”.
The council added it had “already taken corrective action” and asked anyone still wanting a ticket to email them.
