The suspension rules him out of the rest of the Qatar World Cup, including Wednesday’s 3-1 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina at Seattle Stadium.
FIFA’s disciplinary committee said the suspension was due to foul play and the decision handed down on Wednesday is subject to an appeal.
Canada’s first World Cup victory was overshadowed by an injury to Kone, who took him off the stretcher and later. he underwent surgery on a broken tibia and fibula in his left leg.
He was hit in the back in the 51st minute, and the players around him immediately feared that he was seriously injured as he lay on the ground, holding his leg and covering his mouth with his hand.
Despite the seriousness of his injury, Kone sat upright on his stretcher and assured the crowd with a wave as the stadium roared in support as he was carried off the field.

Nathan Saliba, who replaced the injured Kone and scored Canada’s fourth goal, celebrated by running to the sidelines to hold up a replica of Kone’s Canadian jersey and point to his jersey number, eight.
Madibo also seemed to be very upset, crying on the pitch with his hands on his head as his friends consoled him.
Canadian coach Jesse Marsch said at a press conference afterward that Madibo came to Kone’s locker room to apologize in person after the game.
“You can’t imagine how grateful I am to everyone who supported me and prayed for me,” Kone said on Instagram.
Madibo, along with Qatar’s sports minister, went to Kone to check on his health after his injury.
“He was welcomed by the President of the Canadian Soccer Association,” the Qatar Football Association said.
“This trip shows the spirit of the game and the strong relationship on and off the field. We wish the players a speedy recovery and a speedy return.”
The organization also posted photos of the trip, with one showing a wheelchair-bound Kone hugging Madibo as they both sported their national jerseys.
Kone was cheering on Canada from the sidelines as the players lost 2-1 to Switzerland at BC Place, Vancouver, on Wednesday.

Madibo’s ban is not the biggest issue with FIFA at the World Cup. Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez has been suspended for nine games and banned from all football-related activities for four months for biting Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
In 1994, Italian defender Mauro Tassotti was banned for eight games for elbowing Spain’s Luis Enrique.
