Who is Andy Burnham’s wife Marie-France Van Hale?


She was described as the coolest girl in college when she first started dating Andy Burnham.

After more than three decades, Marie-France van Hale could be heading to Downing Street with her husband to take on one of the most powerful unofficial roles in government – wife to the Prime Minister.

Considered the favorite to replace Sir Keir Starmer at No.10, Burnham met Dutchman Van Halen, known as Frankie, in 1989 when she was studying at Fitzwilliam College at Cambridge University.

He was in his second year of English literature and Burnham’s former teacher, John Mullan, wrote in the Times that other students thought he had taken the pools when they started dating.

Van Gaal was born in the same month as Burnham in January 1970 and grew up in the Netherlands and Belgium before moving to England.

Although they started dating at university, Van Hale had a surprise request early in their relationship, when Burnham asked her if she could go on Cilla Black’s TV show Blind Date – and she agreed.

So in the year In 1992, Van Hel appeared on the popular ITV show, wearing a flashy, green jacket and blonde headband with bobbed blonde hair.

She picked Will from Surrey to go on holiday to Gibraltar, but the pair didn’t hit it off.

Burnham and Van Hale, who met quickly 12 years later, were reportedly in a bar in Parliament when Will joined as the Conservative Party’s director of communications.
