Former DUP leader and now convicted child abuser Geoffrey Donaldson has called for his knighthood to be scrapped.
He immediately tendered his resignation from the Privy Council.
The moves were confirmed in a statement by his lawyer, John McBurney.
It read: “This afternoon I have delivered a letter to the Cabinet Office signed by Geoffrey Donaldson and I have issued a letter indicating the request to resign the knighthood.
on Monday, Donaldson was found guilty of sexually abusing 18 children. including one rape of two women as children.
“This afternoon I sent a letter signed by Geoffrey Donaldson to the Privy Council Office tendering his resignation from the Privy Council,” the statement continued.
