Cannabis crime: My dad’s Luton home has been given over to criminals.

The BBC spoke to the businessman who rented the property, who said he had rented it to a builder.

“He paid his rent on time and, I’m not going to lie, I wasn’t checking out the property. I’m not a real estate agent.”

“At the end of the day, these things happen and I’m a few thousand pounds out of pocket myself,” he says.

The BBC chose not to name him.

Bedfordshire Police, which responded to Hassan’s case, told the BBC that “no suspects have been found” but were “working with the family to develop a new line of enquiry”.

“We have a team dedicated to tackling this organized crime and we recently secured our first conviction against an individual who illegally leased property for cannabis cultivation.”

Hasan’s neighbor, Abdul Shakur, said the criminals had maintained their reputation, and no one knew they were there.

“I woke up to a loud bang when the police came and saw one of the suspects running away,” he says.

“There are so many of these farms; I’ve seen three of them this way in two years. The police come and take away the plants.”
