If you plan to use these goggles for open water swimming, your data will be suspended. You can see how far you’ve traveled or view metrics like strokes. You can record accurate distances and view information like walking if you have an Apple Watch or Garmin watch. This will send information from the clock to the display.
One open water feature that you have access to is SwimStraight. This was previously hidden in the Premium Form subscription. It allows you to use the built-in compass to navigate straight. It works best if you dance hard enough to set the compass first.

The premium subscription gives you access to a portion of the Form’s training and exercises. The subscription price starts at $9.99 per month with the option to pay $99 up front for one year. This gives you additional options to create a workout or choose from presets to add structure to your swim time. There is also HeadCoach, which I would say is the most compelling reason to sign up.
HeadCoach works by scoring swimmers and then recommending workouts based on performance. They also offer exercises to improve your swimming skills. In the mirror, this looks like a video game from the 80s. It inspired me to drill to work on my head. This meant that my head and shoulders were deeply submerged in the water, causing me to drag. On the screen I could see the drop (my head) moving up and down the line, and I focused so that the drop wouldn’t go too low. Drilling was simple but very effective. In my opinion, this is the secret sauce of Form.
I don’t need to confirm that the Form that comes with the swimmers is very good. I have recommended their goggles to fellow swimmers and anyone who wants to see what a modern outfit looks like.
The Smart Swim 2 LT offers an affordable way to try out what’s new for Form – it’s the type of goggles I’d choose to buy. Unfortunately, the fact that you still need to pay to sign up for lessons and training materials means that these goggles are out of reach for many swimmers. If you can spare the money, these are great ways to monitor your pool and open water swimming, view metrics and skills, and improve your performance.
