The Senegal national team suffered another painful blow ahead of their clash with Iraq in the third round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup ninth group tournament next Friday evening.

And here, the Senegal team will play its last match in the group stage without the main goalkeeper Edouard Mendy after the injury he received in the game against Norway.
The Senegalese federation said in an official statement. “Edouard Mendy will not be available for Senegal’s next match after injuring his left knee during the Norway game.”

He added: “Further medical tests are currently being conducted to accurately assess the nature of Edward’s injury and determine how long he will continue to participate in the tournament. We wish Edward a speedy recovery.”
Saudi Al-Ahly goalkeeper Mendy suffered an injury during the match against Norway and left the field in the 63rd minute, replaced by his counterpart Mori Diaw, who is expected to defend the Teranga Lions’ goal against Iraq.
