Australia continued their dominant unbeaten run in the Women’s T20 World Cup as they beat Pakistan by 113 runs to book their semi-final spot.

Ellis Perry’s all-round class led the way for Australia as he scored 71 off 48 balls in their 199-7 and then took 2-9 as a woeful Pakistan were bowled out for 86 runs.

Pakistan were already eliminated but have now lost all four of their games as they were comprehensively beaten by the six-time winners of the tournament.

Opener Muniba Ali’s 32 was Pakistan’s only significant contribution before Perry was caught at mid-wicket off the first ball of his only over, with three poor run-outs as they were bowled out in 13.4 overs.

In contrast, Australia once again displayed their enviable batting depth to recover from the loss of three wickets in eight balls in the middle overs with the dismissal of Beth Mooney on the first ball of the game.

Perry and Georgia Vol, who scored 39, added 100 on the counter-attack for the second wicket before Mooney took a brilliant one-handed diving catch from Gaul Feroza.

Voll, Ash Gardner and Georgia Wareham then fell in quick succession but Perry held firm and hit nine fours and a six in her brilliant knock before being caught by Fatima Sana in the 18th over.

But all-rounders Annabelle Sutherland and Nicola Carey ensured they did not lose momentum, contributing unbeaten cameos of 27 and 26 respectively.

The group stage will conclude with a blockbuster match between Australia and India on Sunday, June 28, which is likely to decide the semi-final match.
