It’s summer, it is you know what that means—weather-related power outages are coming soon. I no longer suffer from power outages, however, thanks to my home battery backup. Prime Day it’s a great time to find a deal on one of our favorite power tools, the Jackery 2000 Plus. These power plants keep your refrigerator and other essential electrical needs running even when the power companies can’t.
This was once the top choice in our guide good place to carry electricity. It has since been dethroned by the Bluetti Elite 300, which packs more power into a smaller form factor, but the Bluetti is $200 more, even on sale, and it doesn’t expand like the Jackery. The Jackery 2000 Plus remains an excellent system, and at this price it outperforms everything else we tested.
The main advantage that Jackery has over most of its competitors in this space is that you can double or triple the amount of 2,042 hours with adding additional battery packs. In our testing, the amount actually matched Jackery’s claims, and it had no problem powering 3,000-watt appliances (such as an electric kettle). The 2000 Plus can be quickly charged via a wall socket, but if you lose power for an extended period of time (or if you want to go camping) it also doubles as a solar generator. We were able to charge about 70 percent in one day with Jackery’s SolarSaga 200-watt solar panel.
As with any power station, the fan runs well (we measured the noise at about 30 decibels), and it’s not light – it’s more than 62 pounds on the scale. Handles on both sides help with portability, but you’ll often want to use the wheels.
We don’t have many complaints, although the carport covers, inlets, and rear expansion port are very tight (like open with a tight screwdriver), and the Wi-Fi connection is only 2.4 GHz. Quibbles aside, this is a great power station to use as a home backup or off-grid generator. The warranty is three years, but you can extend it up to five years Register with Jackery.
We’ve seen some Jackery products worth considering, though please note that we haven’t tested any of these products like the Explorer 2000 Plus—the brand’s reputation is strong, but we haven’t tested any of the Jackery products we’ve owned.
