My Favorite TV Show is Amazon’s Big Day Half

Last week, The WIRED Reviews team published our complete guide to great tv showsthe piece I’ve been waiting for. Art TVs, you probably know, are screens that display artwork when it’s not in use. It has a matte finish and a bezel that mimics a frame that you can use to hang art on your wall.

My gift to our guide was a Hisense S7 CanvasTV. I love this thing. And for Prime Day, the S7 is currently almost off the list, and $100 below the lowest price we’ve tracked.

I have a 50 inch size, which is perfect for my bedroom wall. Image quality is not competitive with high-end displays, but it’s not exactly the same. Not everyone cares about insanely bright, dark colors, and extreme sharpness. Some people—a lot of people—just want a TV that shows sports or streams YouTube and doesn’t look out of place in their living room. But you can’t afford the current price.

The Samsung Frame was the first major player in this category, and it is still a well-known name, but now there are several competitors, including TCL and Amazon Ember Artlite. But I still don’t like the Hisense CanvasTV line. If you’re looking for a second or third smart screen somewhere in your home, you can’t beat this price. And because you get a free bezel (frame) with it, you have to lose another $ 150 with Samsung.

Although it’s heavy enough that you’ll need two people to install it, you can mount this CanvasTV on the wall with the one-piece bracket in less than an hour. It connects seamlessly to your Google account, where you can drag images, or you can choose from 1,000 images without paying a subscription. I really like Hisense TVs, in particular, because they have smart controls that are in the nickel range and the Google TV system.
