Nishikori, who began his professional career in 2007, has won 12 ATP Tour titles and is playing on the Challenger Tour this year.
He last competed on the main ATP Tour in August 2025 at the Cincinnati Open.
One of Nishikori’s most notable victories was defeating 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic in the semifinals of the 2014 US Open.
“I’m very proud to reach the ATP Tour, play at the highest level of competition and maintain a top 10 presence,” said Nishikori.
“Win or lose, the special atmosphere I felt in packed arenas is irreplaceable.
“There were times when I was overwhelmed with depression and anxiety due to repeated injuries that prevented me from playing as I wanted.
“However, my love for tennis and my belief that I can be a strong player always brings me back to the court.
“I feel that all these experiences have enriched and shaped my life. I am deeply grateful (to) my family and everyone who has always supported me.”
