Former River City actor Ian Robertson has been found guilty of rape

Former River City actor Ian Robertson has been charged with raping a woman and assaulting two others.

The 45-year-old played Stevie O’Hara in the BBC soap in 2011. She was convicted of five crimes between 2004 and 2019, including domestic violence against women.

During his trial at the High Court in Glasgow, Robertson was called “violent” and “manipulative” by witnesses.

Judge Lady Drummond adjourned the sentence until July 23.

In closing arguments, prosecutor John Keenan Casey said jurors had heard “strong and dramatic” accounts of the women’s experiences with the actor.

Robertson said there was a “common theme” of treating the women “controllingly, humiliatingly and humiliatingly”.

Kenan Robertson said the evidence presented at the trial was “totally unbelievable and unbelievable”.

“No angel,” Robertson told jurors, but denied all charges against him.
