The management of “Real Madrid” has made a decisive decision in the last hours to acquire “Chelsea” midfielder Enzo Fernandez from Argentina in order to strengthen the midfield of the team in the coming period.
The selection of Fernandes (25) came after Real confirmed they could not sign Olisse, apart from ruling out a deal for Mathew Fernandes after having Olisse’s pulse checked, with the 21-year-old preferring a move to Tottenham where he sees more room to grow.
Accordingly, the “White Club” has already begun to activate the mechanisms to start negotiations with “Chelsea” in the next few days, relying on the determined desire of the player, who has already informed “Real” that he will do everything to complete the deal.
The Spanish “AS” newspaper reports.Enzo Fernandez was always top of Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho’s list of priorities, which he passed on to management from the start.
While there are other options that have been explored, such as Mathieu Fernandez or Ayoub Bouadi, who Real have been tracking through Johnny Cavalati for several months, the Moroccan star does not fit the profile of players Mourinho prefers due to his youth and lack of experience, as the manager wants to have a group of experienced and proven elite players to grow around.
Borussia midfielder Nmecha, who started at the World Cup in Germany, was also an option, but he faced the same assessment, so Real have ended their attempts to fulfill Mourinho’s first wish to sign Enzo Fernandez and no other options will be considered until it is confirmed that a deal cannot be arranged.
The Portuguese coach sees in Enzo the ideal midfielder for his sporting project, thanks to his superior ability to cover large areas of the pitch, as well as his leadership qualities on and off the pitch, in addition to his quality to move the team. He is a box-to-box midfielder that the team needs a lot.
This desire faces the obstacle of selling Chelsea’s Cucurella for 50 million euros, which helped him relatively balance his financial accounts, in addition to Xabi Alonso’s desire to rely on Enzo as well, but the decisive factor is the player’s complete conviction to move to Real, a situation that could become unbearable for the management of the London club.
Financial estimates suggest the move will be a three-figure deal, with Chelsea paying €121 million to sign Enzo in the summer of 2022, after the Lisbon club paid €45 million to sign the River Plate player.
The value of the transaction for “Real” will not be less than 100 million euros, especially since the player is bound by a long-term contract, which is extended until 2032.
This season, Enzo was fined by Chelsea for statements in which he expressed his love for Real Madrid. “I would like to live in Spain. I really like Madrid, it reminds me of Buenos Aires. I will live in Madrid, and the footballer lives wherever he wants, he said in an interview on YouTube.”
Real Madrid management are looking to resolve manager Jose Mourinho’s latest two requests for a midfielder and another defender as soon as possible. In order to secure financial liquidity for Enzo’s contract, the club is banking on the possibility of a major sale of one of the midfielders in the current squad, given that the pair of Kamavinga and Tshwamin have a good market in the English Premier League.
