Julian Alvarez: Atletico Madrid striker says he wants to leave club to ‘pursue his dreams’ football news

Argentina forward Julian Alvarez has confirmed he wants to leave Atletico Madrid “to fulfill his dream”.

Alvarez is a target for Atletico’s city rivals Real Madrid who rejected a £129m bid for the forward earlier this month.

Alvarez is also the subject of interest from Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal.

“I spoke to the people at the club, everyone I had to speak to and the best thing for everyone is a transfer and I want to fulfill my dream,” Alvarez said after Argentina’s 2-0 World Cup Group J win over Austria.

“It’s not the time to talk about it, but I can’t hide it either. I try to be an honest person.”

Atlético pointed to the £431m release clause in Alvarez’s contract while rejecting Real Madrid’s offer.

They also scoffed at Barcelona’s attempts to sign Alvarez this summer.

Alvarez, who is under contract until 2030 following his £81m move from Manchester City to Atletico in 2024, said his future was still uncertain.
