Renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United are targeting Real Madrid’s Frenchman Aurelien Choumini to strengthen their midfield with the aim of finding an ideal replacement for Brazil’s Casemiro, but the deal faces two major hurdles that could prevent it from going through.

But Romano explained that the deal faces two fundamental problems. The first is that Real Madrid have yet to open the door for the player to leave, and the second is that Choamini’s very high salary at the Royals does not fit into the English club’s current financial plan, making it difficult to keep him.

“There is no doubt that Manchester United dream of Tswamini and love him, that’s for sure. They value the player a lot and think he is ideal, but let’s be realistic. Choumini suffered a muscle injury after France’s 3-1 win over Senegal in the World Cup opener, forcing him to miss the second match against Iraq.

Real Madrid have officially signed three players so far, none of whom are in Zwamini’s position: Bernardo Silva, Marc Cucurella and Ibrahima Konate.
