Leo breaks up with Klose
Lionel Messi, the captain of the Argentina national team, single-handedly led the list of all-time scorers in the World, who scored a goal against Austria in the second round of the Tenth Group of the FIFA World Cup 2026 today, Monday.
The goal came in the 38th minute after Messi received a pass from left-back Facundo Medina and Leo met it with a powerful shot straight into the net.
Messi took his tally to 17 goals in all competitions at the World Cup, breaking the tie with Germany’s Miroslav Klose, who scored 16 goals, to become the top scorer.
Messi equaled Klose’s record in the first match of the World Cup when he scored a hat-trick against Algeria to take his tally to 16 before scoring the lone goal against Austria.
The star of the American “Inter Miami” also strengthened his advantage as the best scorer of the current World Cup with 4 goals, noting that he has scored all the goals of Tango in this tournament so far.

It is noteworthy that Messi missed a penalty kick in the 9th minute, because he hit the ball completely outside the goal, but he came back and gave Argentina an advantage over Austria with his goal.
