Here’s how to save a Steam Machine

Starting today, you can register for Steam Machine storage, choosing from four options:

All four options will have their own subscription list, and you can subscribe to more than one if you want. There are also separate subscription lists for each shipping region, and Valve says it will put you on your local list. There are currently four shipping regions: North America, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and Australia.

The registration window ends on June 25 at 10AM PT / 1PM ET. At that time, Valve will use “one-time randomisation” to determine the reservation order for each registered user.

Regardless of how many lists you subscribe to, you can only be on one list. If you’re lucky enough to be granted a save for more than one version, Valve says you’ll only be given access to the highest save for the version you signed up for, and removed from any other lists you’ve been on. Likewise, if you didn’t get a reservation, Valve says “you’ll be placed on a waiting list for the version you’re closest to in front of.”

On June 25, Valve will send emails to everyone who signed up to let them know if they’ve been added to the reservation queue, meaning there’s a slot reserved for them, or waiting. If you apply after June 25, you will be added to the back of the waiting list. Once these emails are sent out, you will not be able to change the settings of the Steam Machine you signed up with.

Valve also has a few things you need to do to sign up:

You must have a valid Steam account

You must have purchased on Steam before April 27th 2026

Apply for one registration per family. We will use the payment method, shipping address, and other information to remove multiple posts.

Access to the waiting list means that you must wait until the maximum number of units you have signed up for becomes available. If you place a reservation, Valve will give you 72 hours to complete your Steam Machine purchase. The first booking emails go out on June 29.
