Marc Marquez wins the Czech MotoGP, narrows the gap to the leader Bezzecchi | Sports News

The seven-year MotoGP world championship reduced the lead of leader Marco Bezzecchi after the Italian was suspended.

Ducati’s Marc Marquez took a thrilling victory in the Czech MotoGP on Sunday, with the seven-time MotoGP champion holding off his teammate Francesco Bagnaia late on to seal victory at the Autodrom Brno.

Starting fourth on the grid, Marquez pounced on Bagnaia for much of the race before starting his routine on lap 16. He then pulled clear in the final lap to secure victory after the final inspection, sealing back-to-back victories after another victory in Hungary earlier this month.

Bagnaia, who was chasing his first win of the season after winning Saturday’s race, was unable to respond and was later eaten by the polesitter of Trackhouse Racing’s Ai Ogura on lap 18 as he pushed Reel Marquez back. Ogura finished second, 0.421 seconds behind Marquez.

The Italian crossed the line third despite late pressure from VR46 Racing Team’s Fabio Di Giannantonio, while KTM’s Pedro Acosta retired with bike trouble in the final lap.

Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi has been suspended from Sunday’s race after an altercation with a competitor following Saturday’s crash during the race.

Ban Bezzecchi allowed his Aprilia teammate Jorge Martin to close the gap in the race riders’ head only eight points (180 to 172). After a slow start to the 2026 MotoGP season, Marquez climbed to 140 points – just 40 behind Bezzecchi.
