Vaibhav Suryavanshi hit a half-year record of 11 balls in India A’s match against Sri Lanka A.

Teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashed India A’s 11-ball 50, breaking the record in List A’s 50-over cricket history.

The 15-year-old scored 94 off 29 balls in the match against Sri Lanka A for a total of 377-9, which included 10 fours and eight sixes.

He faced only one dot ball in his fifty and hit five fours and five sixes from the other 10 balls.

Tiara Perera’s 13-ball fastest for Sri Lanka in 2021 is the fastest, while the fastest 16-ball internationals are by South Africa’s AB de Villiers and West Indies’ Matthew Forde.

Sooryavanshi’s knock comes on the day he was not included in India’s full squad for the upcoming one-day international series in England.

He has been named in their T20 squad for next month’s matches against Ireland and England, which will include being the leading run-scorer in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL), where he could make his international debut.

Virat Kohli could return to ODIs if he passes a fitness test after a hamstring injury, while fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is also included, but striker Yashasvi Jaiswal and all-rounder Hardik Pandya miss out.

The first T20 v Ireland will be played on June 26 before the five-match series against England begins on July 1, followed by three ODIs from July 14.
