Ben Stokes withdrawn from rest of Durham’s County Championship match at ECB request | cricket news

Ben Stokes has been withdrawn from the remainder of Durham’s County Championship match against Northamptonshire in a clear indication that he will return to England’s Test squad.

The all-rounder was ruled out of the ongoing second Test against New Zealand following an investigation into an incident at a London nightclub.

Following England’s win in the first Test at Lord’s, Stokes and teammate Gus Atkinson broke the team’s midnight curfew in the early hours of Monday morning and were reportedly present during an incident involving a member of England’s security staff and a Saracens player.

Stokes, however, played for his county Durham and fell just five runs short of a century on Saturday.

The ECB is yet to confirm any decision on Stokes.
