Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson have ruled themselves out of the County Championship games.

Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson will be available to play for England in the third Test against New Zealand after coming out of their County Championship match.

Captain Stokes and pace bowler Atkinson have been ruled out of the second Test on Wednesday pending an investigation into the incident in a London nightclub.

But both have been cleared to play domestic cricket, with Stokes starting for Durham and Atkinson for Surrey in the first two-day matches on Friday.

They were withdrawn before matchday three, meaning Stokes will play no further part in Durham’s game against Northamptonshire, and Atkinson will miss the Surrey game at Glamorgan.
