Two big deal stories… Premier League star close to Real Madrid?

Real Madrid are continuing to explore the options available to strengthen their midfield in the summer transfer window, amid talk of potential candidates to work under Jose Mourinho.

Real Madrid have gone strong in the transfer market this summer and have officially signed the trio of Bernardo Silva, Marc Cucurella and Ibrahima Konate following Jose Mourinho’s appointment as technical director, while they are also rumored to have secured the signature of Denzel Dumfries.

In this context, Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari caused controversy after he reported that Enzo Fernandez had reached a verbal agreement on a five-year contract with Real Madrid.

He noted that the “Chelsea” midfielder is one of the main goals of the Royal Club this summer.

Longari added via his VX account that Chelsea do not want to give up on the Argentine international, but could face pressure from the player himself if formal talks between the two clubs begin.

He also explained that the London club have not yet received any official offer, but value the player at no less than 120 million euros due to his importance in the team and the length of the contract.

A different story

But transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano presented a different story, stressing that Real Madrid have yet to identify the midfielder they want to sign, despite Enzo Fernandez’s name being linked with the club in recent weeks.

Romano explained that reports that the player has agreed personal terms with Real Madrid are not true, stressing that there is currently no contact between the two clubs.

According to Romano, Enzo is just one of several names that Real Madrid are discussing internally, with four other options on the table for the sport’s governing body, while the whole project is still under study and has not progressed.

He added that the Royals would prefer to resolve some of the deceased’s affairs and reduce the number of players on their roster before starting serious negotiations to bring in a new midfielder. Despite this denial, Enzo has previously hinted at his admiration for Real Madrid and his openness to the idea of a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
