He doesn’t deserve his place..Luca Zidane responds to accusations of politeness

Algerian goalkeeper Luca Zidane has come under fire after the Desert Warriors lost 3-0 to Argentina at the 2026 World Cup.

Before receiving three goals from Lionel Messi, Luca Zidane was already being accused of being polite to start for Algeria because he is Zinedine Zidane’s son.

The Algerian goalkeeper said: “It does not bother me at all that I am always described as Ibn Zida.”

“Being Zinedine Zidane’s son is a matter of pride and it is part of my personal life and football career. I accept it and I’m used to it. It doesn’t bother me at all that the fans keep calling me Zidane’s son.”

He also emphasized that he does not accept when some people accuse him of being opportunistic, of not deserving his place, and that he owes everything to the name he carries, instead of his actual level and performance.

He emphasized. “It really bothers me that some people say that what I have achieved in my football career is because of my father’s name and reputation.”

“This of course worries me, no doubt, but if some people repeat that I am Zidane’s son, it does not cause me any problems.”
