World number one Luke Leiter returned to the top of the rankings after winning his fifth night of the Premier League Darts season.
The 19-year-old backed up last week’s win at Liverpool with another impressive performance at Aberdeen to move above Jonny Clayton.
The pair were given a chance to make the semi-finals at London’s O2 Arena on May 28, but it was a big night for world No.2 Luke Humphries to reach his second final of the season.
It took Littler to the final leg – the fourth between the pair in 13 weeks – but the teenager came out on top.
Humphreys capitalized on Littler, who broke seven legs and was caught in one leg in the opening night victory of the year.
But Littler, now one night away from matching last year’s record-breaking six-goal haul, has checked his three legs.
He broke leg 10 to set up the decider and, despite missing three match darts on his favored double 10, finished with a fourth.
In the high-quality case, Littler averaged 104.11 to Humphries’ 103.10.
More to follow.
