The medical aid group Doctors Without Borders said the situation in the Nabatieh region of southern Lebanon, which is under Israeli occupation, is akin to a “death trap”.
Israel has increased its presence in Nabatieh and other areas of southern Lebanon since midnight on Friday, the talks planned in Switzerland between the United States and Iran to seal the peace agreement.

At least 50 people have been killed in the renewed attacks, including a soldier, Lebanese health officials said.
The aid group, better known by its French name MSF, said it was responding to a large number of people affected by the attack in Nabatieh, including medics who were injured in the rescue operation.
The charity also warned that responders were unable to evacuate many people who were hit by live ammunition in the area due to the danger.
“People are coming in with severe head injuries, bleeding profusely, shrapnel injuries and need amputations,” MSF’s head of emergencies in Lebanon, Pierre Boulet-Desbareau, said in a statement.
“What is happening in Nabatiyeh is very difficult. What our teams are describing is similar to a death trap. People are being hit by powerful bullets, while rescue teams cannot find them safely,” he said. “Civilians and first responders must be protected, and access to rescue teams is urgently needed.”
Israel’s military says it has launched a series of airstrikes in southern Lebanon following a Hezbollah attack that killed four soldiers. Despite US President Donald Trump’s announcement late on Friday that Israel had agreed to a ceasefire with Hezbollah, Israel continued to attack southern Lebanon until Saturday.
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported that Israeli warplanes and drones carried out several strikes across Nabatieh overnight and into Saturday morning, destroying homes and buildings.
Tehran insists any final peace deal requires Israel and the United States to end the conflict on all sides, including in Lebanon. Tehran says it has delayed sending a delegation to Switzerland for face-to-face talks that have been put on hold because of Israel’s escalation of violence.
