Kuman: I made a mistake against Japan, and Sweden’s strength is not limited to Jokers and Isak.

Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman has confirmed his commitment to better management of the bench in the second round of the World Cup Group F match against Sweden, admitting that his substitutions in the opening match did not have the desired effect.

The Netherlands are looking to get their World Cup campaign back on track after a disappointing opening draw with JapanIn a game that raised many questions after Koeman retreated to a defensive style before his side conceded a goal in the 89th minute.

Koeman took full responsibility for the result, explaining that he wanted his players to put more pressure on the pitch, something they failed to do in the match which ended in a positive draw with two goals apiece.

Kuman said In announcements during the game’s press conference“At first I see that the impact or impact of the substitutions was not positive, and for that, of course, I am responsible. I accept the criticism directed at me, because it is not a problem.”

The Dutch coach added: “I made my decision after talking with my technical staff and I said very clearly what I want to change. We should have pressed more in the high areas of the pitch and we couldn’t do that and we want to get this message across to the players.”

The Dutch team will face their Swedish counterpart, led by attacking duo Viktor Geukeris and Alexander Isak, who each scored in Sweden’s five-goal win over Tunisia and saw the creation of many other moments throughout the match.

Koeman emphasized that this duo is providing an exceptional tournament so far, but at the same time warned the Dutch defenders about the need to pay attention to the other attacking sources of the Swedish national team.

“They have speed and strength and the ability to score goals, so we will focus on them and pay special attention to them, but we have to focus on the whole Sweden team because they did well on the pitch.”

Koeman said he is looking forward to seeing Holland’s all-time leading goalscorer Memphis Depay, who has been suffering from a hamstring problem recently and did not make much of an impact against Japan after coming off as a substitute.

“Depay can provide added value for us and he has always provided added value, so when we need him he will be there on the pitch.”
