Italian tourists died in the Bayahibe fire

The Italian news agency Ansa reported that the Italian ambassador to the Dominican Republic met the deceased’s husband at the hospital where she was taken. The embassy is assisting 285 Italian tourists who were at or near the resort, whose travel documents were destroyed in the fire, by issuing emergency passports and arranging flights home.
