There is no stopping this year’s CMF phone because of RAM prices

No other budget phone has recently been hit by RAMageddon. Like 9 to 5 Google reports, No co-founder Akis Evangelidis announced post on X that following of CMF Phone 2 Pro not coming this year:

We were working on a replacement but with memory prices where they are right now, we couldn’t make a phone that felt like a real step up at a reasonable price for CMF. As a result, we have decided not to launch a new CMF phone this year.

Last week, No CEO and co-founder Carl Pei he also said that Lack of RAM has affected the price of the company’s mid-range phone, saying, “On the Phone 4A, the cost of memory has doubled from the time we decided to make this device and since it was launched. According to Mr. Pei, “memory is now the most expensive thing in a smartphone.” It is not far from the only company facing RAM price problems – earlier this week, Tim Cook announced Apple is raising pricessaying that “the situation has become unstable.”

Although there won’t be a new CMF phone this year, Evangelidis added in his post that CMF still has “several new products being introduced and new categories.” He added that “the era of opening smartphones to Nothing is not over.”
