Iran’s deputy foreign minister says Tehran wants to continue talks with Washington, if the United States wants to honor its agreement and ensure that Israel complies with the terms of the memorandum of understanding (MoU).

“We are ready to move forward slowly, if the other group shows the same depth,” Saeed Khatibzadeh told Al Jazeera Arabic in an interview on Friday.

Article 1 of the MoU clearly states that the cessation of hostilities in Lebanon is an integral part of the cessation of hostilities in all areas.

“There will be no peace or stability in Lebanon and in the region without ending the occupation and Israel’s commitment to international law,” Khatibzadeh said.

On the Strait of Hormuz, he said Iran will continue to supply transportation services in accordance with Oman and in accordance with international law.

He also said that Tehran will not pressure fine within the 60 days defined by the agreement, but he said that a new system of water management will be introduced later and given to regional countries.

Khatibzadeh also said that any future deal must include the release of all frozen Iranian currency.

The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Esmaeil Baghaei, said on Friday that the necessary negotiations on the US agreement are being carried out through mediators, and if the prerequisites for the start of negotiations are met, an official announcement will be made.

As for the ceasefire in Lebanon that is needed for negotiations between the US and Iran to continue, the Hezbollah official. he said Al Jazeera said the ceasefire would hold if Israel complied.

Israel’s Ambassador to the US Yechiel Leiter said on X: “Israel is still determined to end the war immediately. If Hezbollah respects the agreement and stops its fighting, it will remain silent”.
