In an exciting football battle that pits Asian and European ambitions, Saudi club Al-Nasr are close to completing a fiery deal to replace Portugal’s Jorge Jesus, who has officially left at the end of his contract.
This comes as he continues Portuguese Football Federation The process of choosing a new coach to replace Roberto Martinez after the 2026 World Cup.
Well-known journalist Ben Jacobs, who specializes in transfer news, revealed the official progress from Al-Nasr’s administration to the current coach of the Portugal national team after his stint at the 2026 World Cup.
Jacobs confirmed via platform X that the Al-Alami board are pushing hard to convince Martinez, who is 52, to sign, despite recent statements that a return to the Portuguese league is his priority.
The move comes after Portuguese Jorge Jesus officially left Al-Nasr at the end of his contract to make way for current coach Cristiano Ronaldo in the Mariners to move to Don’s side.
Jesus is remembered for his outstanding achievements as he led the Yellows to the Saudi Roshen League title last season and reached the 2nd final of the AFC Champions League and the final of the Saudi Arabian Super Cup.
Roberto Martinez has a rich CV in English football where he managed Swansea City, Wigan Athletic and Everton, before managing Belgium and Portugal.
He is expected to leave his role with the European national team at the end of this summer when his contract expires, amid reports that he is open to a return to the English Premier League.

As for the Portuguese FA, they are currently in the process of selecting candidates to replace Martinez, with the likes of Jorge Jesus, Abel Ferreira and Sergio Conceicao on the list, while Jose Mourinho was a strong candidate before being appointed as Real Madrid manager.
Martinez is under pressure with his national team at the 2026 World Cup as the team opened their campaign with a positive draw (1-1) against the Democratic Republic of Congo, while Portugal currently sit third in their group with one point, three behind leaders Colombia, while Uzbekistan are bottom of the standings without a point.
