US Vice President JD Vance has delayed his trip to Switzerland to start new peace talks with Iran following the signing of the deal. memorandum of understanding (MoU) to end the war, the White House said.

Vance already he defended agreement between Washington and Tehran amid criticism by US and Israeli officials, saying that the signing of the MoU has triggered a 60-day negotiation period to reach an agreement.

Vance and his team were reportedly set to travel to Switzerland on Thursday night, but the trip was canceled at the last minute following Israeli bombing of southern Lebanon, killing at least three people overnight.

Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that there is no evidence that Iranian negotiators will go to talks, because they first want to see signs that a long-term agreement, which includes Lebanon in the US-Iran conflict resolutionwas being established.

The agreement, signed by the presidents of the two countries, has been presented as an end to months of conflict, although critics question its terms, the number of questions it leaves unanswered and Tehran’s commitment.

• Iranian officials say Iran has underestimated its enemies: Mohsen Rezaei, an adviser to Iran’s supreme leader, hailed what he called Iran’s “success” in the war, saying the country had “broken” the regime of its enemies. In X’s letter, he described the conflict as an “epic” that will go down in history, and the cry of the great leaders who were killed in the war is that “revenge” is the only way to end their deaths.
• Ghalibaf warns against US violation of MoU: Iran’s top spokesman and parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said Tehran would not allow any violation of the Washington agreement. In a letter on X, he warned that “bad faith, violation of the agreement, and many demands” will be met with “absurd response”, adding that Iran’s enemies were “already beaten” during the war and will face a severe response if they repeat their actions.
